What to wear with a: Cardigan

11 Nov

I have discussed before that the most common questions I field are, what do I wear with that? “That” being a pair of pants, a skirt, top, etc… Since the cooler temps and Winter months are upon us I found it appropriate to discuss, What to Wear with a Cardigan.  It’s so easy to throw on a tank, cami or t-shirt underneath. But I think it’s important to showcase pieces beyond that parameter, to keep the look exciting.

I personally like to have my arms covered during this time of year so a sleeveless top doesn’t really cut it for me. Adding texture, color, patterns, embellishments tops are great way to transform a cardigan from looking ordinary to extraordinary. For example, if the cardigan in  combination #1 was paired with a plain t-shirt than the the outfit would look well, plain. Pairing it with a patterned top keeps it fresh and interesting. Finishing the outfit with black skinny pants or a straight leg pant would complete this outfit nicely.

Ladylike Fall

27 Sep

One of the many reasons I am excited that Fall is here, is being able to pair Long Sleeve dresses with booties or pumps. I think there is a sweet sexiness to the Long Sleeve dress with shorter hem line. It is a little revealing, but not over the top, creating a very ladylike aesthetic. Complimenting this natural pairing would be: tights, depending on the weather, a great clutch and fitting chunky accessories. Adding these pieces would complete the composition of one classy look.

Native Inspirations

16 Sep

The Native inspired prints and colors trend for fall is so alluring with the rich textures, intricate patterns, and exquisite details . I love the native prints manipulated into modern silhouettes. The luxurious patterns and comfortable materials make this style such a viable option for Fall. Pieces that can provide comfort and luxe in colder temperatures, what else can you want?  One of the qualities that attracts me most to this style is the colors, the contrast of dark and light with a pop of color thrown into the pattern. Sometimes it isn’t necessary to copy a trend exactly, but to analyze and take away from it something that you can relate into your wardrobe. If there were only thing to take away from this trend, it could be to wear an electric blue against a camel and black outfit or wear fringe boots with a patterned mini skirt and dark tights.

Block Party

I have been looking for the perfect pair of colored denim jeans for Fall. While out shopping the other day I found these beauties and was thrilled with the color and fit. They are the perfect twilight blue, really soft and they aren’t clingy, making them oh so comfortable.  I wear so much denim in the Fall and Winter that it will be nice to switch out the normal “blue jeans” for a nice pop of color.

Chambray on the Cape.

31 Aug

The weather while on vacation last week in Cape Cod, as I mentioned here, was pretty ideal. The days were sunny, warm and the humidity very low. The nights were a bit cooler, so I took advantage of this weather by wearing some Fall Transitional pieces. This chambray shirt is a recent purchase and I can already tell it is will be on heavy rotation. It has a boyfriend cut, allowing for a more relaxed and easy going wear. Pairing it with red cords and super comfortable wedges, made for one easy to wear outfit for one awesome night out!
